From Role Model to the Lone Star Stage: Closing One Chapter, Opening Another
By Madeline Grace Asbell
This past year has been nothing short of extraordinary. As Royal International Miss Jr. Teen Role Model 2024, I had the privilege of representing not only a title, but a mission that means the world to me—advocating for caregiving youth and raising awareness about the mental health challenges young caregivers face.
Over the last 12 months, I’ve traveled more than 7,000 miles across the United States, speaking to families, community leaders, students, and policymakers. I’ve shared my own story as a youth caregiver, created space for others to be seen, and worked hard to give voice to those who are often overlooked. I met strangers who became friends, turned advocacy into action, and grew more confident in who I am and the leader I’m becoming.
And now, it’s time to pass on the crown.
As I prepare to give up my title, I do so with nothing but gratitude—for the memories, the growth, the laughs, the tears, and most of all, the platform that allowed me to launch my initiative, Giving Grace.
But I’m not done. I’m just getting started.
I’m incredibly excited to announce that I’ll be competing in local Miss Texas preliminaries for the title of Miss Texas Teen 2026—a role that represents more than a sash. It’s a job—one that demands heart, hustle, and purpose. I’m ready to step into this new chapter with the same fire that carried me through this past year: to lead with empathy, serve with passion, and continue being a voice for caregiving youth across Texas and beyond.
To every young person balancing books and bedtime routines, exams and elder care—I see you. I hear you. And I’ll never stop fighting for you.
Thank you, Royal International Miss, for shaping me into the advocate I am today. And Texas… I’m coming for you.
Let’s do this. 💙
