Why I Love the Style Core Value of the Miss America Opportunity
When people hear the word “style,” they often think about fashion, clothes, or what’s trending. And while those things can be fun, the Style core value of the Miss America Opportunity means so much more to me.
For me, style is about how you carry yourself — the confidence, grace, and authenticity you bring into every room. It’s about showing the world who you are through your choices, your presence, and the way you treat others. True style isn’t just about what you wear on the outside, but how you live on the inside.
I love this core value because it allows every young woman to express her individuality. No two people have the same style, and that’s what makes it powerful. Whether it’s through personal expression, public speaking, or community service, style reminds us that our uniqueness is something to celebrate.
Style also ties into leadership. When you step onto a stage, into a classroom, or in front of your peers, the way you carry yourself sets the tone. Having style means being polished, prepared, and purposeful — but also being genuine and approachable. That balance inspires trust and respect, which are so important in making an impact.
For me, advocating for Caregiving Youth is at the heart of my style. It’s my way of showing that what you stand for matters just as much as how you present yourself. When I put on a crown and sash, I’m not just dressing up — I’m representing a cause, a community, and a commitment to serve.
That’s why I love the Style core value. It’s not about fitting in; it’s about standing out with confidence, grace, and purpose. And to me, that’s the most beautiful kind of style there is.
With love,
Madeline Grace Asbell
